A teenage ”emo” band in the year 2026? Can the duo hold up to their forefathers who started as teenagers in the 2000s like From First to Last?

Bunny Murderers is a teenage duo that’s primarily known from the TX2 fanbase for making pop punk/metalcore music that TX2 fans might like. Can their similarities to TX2 hold up in their album, the Devil Knows My Name?

This album starts off with an intro similar to ones you might find in periodic tv series where they give viewers a run down of what happened in the previous episode. In this intro, the Bunny Murderers introduces who they are and the tracks that are to come on the album. Though this introduction sets their album apart from most band’s opening track, this introduction tries too hard to make Bunny Murderers seem like an edgy metalcore band. This over use of edginess only ends up hurting the Bunny Murderers throughout the album.

This album mostly consists of metalcore, post hardcore, and screamo elements with the lead singer, Brandyn Lytle’s primary focus being on screaming vocals. Brandyn Lytle’s screaming performance is quite great for his age and shines greatly throughout this album; however, there is controversy regarding these screaming vocals and the overall vocals on the album.

Some of the vocals on this album are debatable on if they are actually Bunny Murderer’s vocals or not. When you hear Brandyn’s vocals on this album, you can definitely pin point which vocals are his; however, there’s vocals on here that don’t sound nothing like his at all. With the inclusion of ZDaddy, an artist that’s well known to use ai vocals, the question is if Bunny Murderers used ai vocals on this album at points. Even after running some of the songs through ai detectors, the ai detectors determined that some of the songs do contain ai elements. This might throw listeners off as when you hear Brandyn’s vocals, and vocals that may be perfectly ai, it’s confusing on who is actually singing at times.

Though the duo has debatable vocals, their instrumental selection is pretty solid and great. The duo primarily used instrumentals from YouTube producers as you can notice producer tags in certain songs on the album. I truly believe their instrumental selection was a great choice and that Brandyn’s screams shine on some of these instrumentals.

Bunny Murderers might have great instrumental choices, but their lyric and song writing abilities tend to be basic and even awkward at times. In one song on the album, the duo gets political and talks about the president of the United States, Donald Trump. The insults about Trump tend to remind me of when Eminem did a free style diss against Donald Trump; awkward and corny.

Bunny Murderers also uses edginess in such a way on this album that it as if it’s the only thing they have in their shed. Their overuse of edginess in their themes and lyrics tend to leave listeners feeling cringed out; in fact, it’s almost overplayed.

Truthfully, I believe this album is a solid 1.5 out of 5 stars; though Brandyn has great screaming abilities, their song writing and over reliance on edginess is quite disappointing.

The guitarist of Bunny Murderers, Franky, makes an attempt to make solo music. Does his solo music hold up compared to his band?

In this short four track EP, there seems to be  promise from the get go as the first track, Blame, opens up with an intro that sets the melodramatic, self revealing, tone of the EP. After this intro, the EP immediately falls apart.

6SecondsTillDeath’s vocal performance is extremely underwhelming on these four tracks; and it painfully shows. Not only is he constantly off pitch, but he also tends to be ahead or behind the instrumental’s tempo. Even without autotune, there’s no redeeming qualities of his singing abilities on this album.

There’s a special guest on the album that joins 6 to help aide his album. This special guest is no other than the lead singer of Bunny Murderers. Even though he is the superior in vocal ability, not even the lead singer’s vocals can help this project; in fact, even with autotune, autotune can’t even help the lead singer’s vocals get in pitch. On the final track, 6 and the lead singer of Bunny Murderers makes attempts to harmonize their vocals. Their harmonization is so off that it’s not even in pitch at all. 

My last complaint about this project is 6’s song writing abilities. A lot of it is very basic and repetitive in nature; repeating themes of feeling sad without anything new. At times this song writing can get cringy. On the first track, Blame, 6 sings “I’m crying” and then literally does a fake cry that is awkward to listen to. The only good thing about this project is the instrumental selection only.

We here at the Record Ranters are going to give this album a 0.5 out of 5. Although the instrumental selection is great, the song writing is absolutely basic and the singing abilities are non existent; even with Brandyn of Bunny Murderers being featured as well.
